On a September night in 1882 a ship, the Rowland Evans owned by Captain John Evans of Borth, was abandoned in mysterious circumstances off Bardsey Island. The book describes the events which led him to the abandonment of the ship, disciplinary court and the loss of his master's ticket, as well as painting a picture of Evans' life and ships and the village of Borth and its heritage.
