Dr. Chan Sin-wai, senior lecturer at the Department of Translation, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializes in translation theory and Chinese-English translation. He received his doctorate from University of London in 1977 and has since published 24 volumes of books under 13 titles. His latest booksinclude A Glossary of Translation Terms (1993) and An Encyclopaedia of Translation: Chinese-English / English-Chinese (1995), which he co-edited with Professor David E. Pollard.
